Hopi Pot by Vernida Nampeyo
This is an Authentic Native American Hand coiled and hand-painted Hopi “Seed Pot!” It is approximately 3 1/4” tall and about 3 5/8” wide. It has a nice stone polished finish. The detail on the painting is incredible! It has a beautiful “Bat Wing” pattern painted on the perimeter.
Vernida’s pots are very thin walled and light. The coloring on this piece is very nice. It has orange fire clouds. Hopi pottery is distinguished by its warm yellow – orange slip and polychrome designs. Traditional outdoor firing, as well as the iron content of the clay, produces variations in the yellowish surface color. It is signed on the bottom by the artist,“Vernida Polacca Nampeyo”.
